The Base Youth Club
The Base Youth Club is a free, inclusive community-driven initiative providing a safe, engaging, and dynamic space for children aged 6 to 12 in Midlothian. Established in October 2024 by local parents, the club’s mission is to offer fun, structured activities that foster social interaction, confidence, and life skills while promoting a sense of belonging for all children, regardless of their background.
Operating weekly on Fridays, The Base runs two sessions tailored for different age groups, featuring a variety of games, crafts, and physical activities designed to encourage creativity, teamwork, and physical well-being.
The club is managed entirely by volunteers, including a dedicated committee and a growing team of helpers, who are committed to providing a positive experience for children and their families. The club collaborates with local community groups to enhance its offerings and strengthen ties within the area.
Key objectives include:
- Creating a welcoming, inclusive environment for all children.
- Providing structured, safe, and enjoyable activities.
- Encouraging social inclusion, teamwork, and personal growth.
- Offering accessible, cost-free opportunities to support families in the community.
The Base is proudly affiliated with LAYC and Youth Scotland and actively engages in securing funding to ensure sustainability. Feedback from parents, children, and community members is highly valued to continuously improve and adapt its services to community needs.
With over 124 registered children and growing interest, The Base Youth Club is committed to making a lasting, positive impact on young lives by nurturing a spirit of fun, friendship, and opportunity.
