Training and Events
LAYC organises a general training programme for member groups annually (actually it seems to work best from October to June) which covers core topics like Child Protection, Emergency Aid, Dealing with Challenging Behaviour, Group Work Skills and Basic Food Hygiene as well as other topics identified by members from training needs evaluations.
Courses generally have a practical focus and are at an introductory level – details of course content and formal are always posted on the website so that you can check it covers what you are looking for before you book. You can book onto courses via the website. Members can access these courses at heavily discounted rates.
Places are usually restricted to 2 places per club initially, although reserve lists are kept if you want more places. 1 week before the course contact is made with those booked on the course to confirm their attendance and reserve places allocated at that stage if any become available. Unfortunately because of the levels of demand and the subsidised cost, LAYC has to charge anyone who fail to attend training courses they have booked on if they do not contact LAYC in advance in time to allow someone else to make use of the place.
If you are interested in talking to LAYC about tailoring a training course to your own requirements then please contact LAYC eg if you have a large number of staff needing places and can provide a suitable venue locally it may be possible to arrange for LAYC to deliver training in your own club or local area.
