About Core Services
LAYC tries to provide a wide range of advice, information, support and training to affiliated members and is continuing to develop the website ‘Members Only’ section to be a source of more detailed information to groups and workers.
You are only a letter, phonecall or e-mail away from having someone to discuss your particular needs or problems – however large or small they may seem to you, why not take the chance to consult someone else who understands the situation?!?
In the meantime, the other headings in this section will tell you about some of the other Core Services members currently receive. If there is something you cannot find or think that we should include on the website then please let us know.
Freecycle
Do you have things you're getting rid of that could go to a good home within another club, group or organisation?
Are there things you're looking for for your club, group or organisation?
If the answer to either of these questions is yes and you're an affiliate of Lothian Association of Youth Clubs then maybe our Freecycle service could help.
Just fill in the on-line form and tell us what it is that you are getting rid of or looking for and your contact details.
We'll then post the details up here for all our website visitors to see and circulate the information through our e-bulletins!
Please note that LAYC will only post and circulate information from affiliated groups and agencies.
Insurance
One of the main benefits of affiliating to LAYC is the excellent insurance package for your general youth and children's work programmes - this includes:
- Employers Liability Insurance
- Public Liability Insurance
- Products Liability Insurance
- Member to Member Cover
For more information around the package of insurance download the Affiliation and Insurance details PDF. For any Insurance enquiries you should e-mail Lynne Tumilty at the brokers. Alternatively you can phone her on 0141-331-1515.
Leisure Links
Edinburgh Leisure and LAYC - Leisure Links has operated successfully since April 2002 and is aimed at encouraging youth and children’s groups to make greater use of Edinburgh Leisure facilities in their programmes.
Leisure Links provides registered groups with 4 Leisure Cards which adult leaders can use for their own activities at reduced cost as well as to get discounted access for their youth and children’s group. So why not take advantage of the great range of Edinburgh Leisure facilities and services?
To register for Leisure Links, LAYC members need only download the required forms.
Library
LAYC has an extensive library of youth work-related resources which affiliated members can borrow free of charge. You can browse the library catalogue and make reservations online.
We also have the core course texts for the Working with Young People module of the degree course in Community Learning and Development at Moray House.
Networks
Networks is published four times a year and is circulated to all the affiliated groups and members of LAYC.
Each issue is full of useful information, articles, reviews and ideas for youth and children's workers in the Lothian area.
If you have an idea for an article or want to submit something for the next copy of Networks you should give Graham a call at the LAYC Office on (0131) 667 1828 or email him at graham@layc.org.uk.
Back issues of networks are sorted by year:
LAYC members can also download the latest issue of Networks from the members area.
