Child Protection
Funded through the Scottish Executive's Changing Children's Services Fund LAYC's Quality Development Unit (QDU) operates to ensure that all our affiliated groups and clubs in Edinburgh are supported in meeting with the requirements of new legislation. In particular we are focussing on supporting groups and clubs around the Protection of Children (Scotland) Act 2003 which has been introduced in stages from 10 January 2005.
We do this by providing advice and guidance to groups, helping groups and clubs develop their own policies and procedures to make sure that they are operating in a way which ensures maximum protection and safety for children and young people and if necessary assisting groups to access the Disclosure Scotland checking procedures necessary to comply with the legislation.
To summarise, we aims to support groups and clubs by providing:
- Information and guidance
- Support around Policies and Procedures
- Access to Disclosure Checks
- Advice and support
